Fishing is right up there with baseball cards, Legos, chess, and treehouses—basic pre-requisites for manhood.
The first time you fish, you learn that you won’t catch something just because you try. In fact, you probably won’t catch anything at all the first time out. Unless you are fishing with Mr. Ed. He knows these fish. One or two casts and BANG, there it is.

Made me wonder what his expectations might be if just the two of us went next time. Maybe I should talk to him first about patience. Maybe I should tell him that fishing is as much about the process as the product…you know, the journey is the destination and all that. Maybe I’ll bring some salmon on ice just in case.
